Has a player who ended up playing all 9 positions done it organically? Meaning: he moved around due to need, not coming to the park thinking,“I’m going to play all 9 positions tonight.” ---

It’s only been done four times in MLB. All four were doing it as a gimmick. ---

I’d even go so far as to say he’s the first player people think of when asked this question. 1.Dunno if that’s the 1st one people think of. 😉 2.Was my FAVORITE Bugs Bunny short as a kid (a Bugs movie, a series of shorts, was on the other nite) 3.Thought it was funny that it was clearly the Yankee Stadium facade, but the announcer said they were at the Polo Grounds. ---

I realize it’s not in a single game, but I fired up my [B-R.com](http://B-R.com) play index account. People who have played all 9 positions in one season, since 1911: [Baseball-Reference is awesome.](http://bbref.com/pi/shareit/3olHu) As you can see, Shelton also played DH in 2000, for the whole spectrum.
