I always thought it was from Bachelor Party, which came out in 84. Can’t be sure, never saw the whole thing and don’t intend to.
I found the script online, and the line is “Let’s have a bachelor party, with chicks and guns and fire trucks and hookers and drugs and booze…” No mention in the script of “blow” paired with “hookers.”
I thought that was the entire point of getting rich.
“I spent 90% of my money on women and drink. The rest I wasted.”
– George Best
There’s a possibly related meme of snorting cocaine off a hooker’s breasts.
It’s not the sentiment, it’s the phrase. The phrase is inherently funny in a way that the other expressions of the sentiment are not. Why? I dunno. Probably something to do with meter and register. But it’s funny in a way that “whores and narcotics” simply isn’t.
As well as their butt cracks. I know because I saw Wolf of Wall Street.
Well, for starters, I don’t think any john expects the whore to narcotic him (they sometimes do, but it’s not part of the package deals offered).
The “blow” in “hookers and blow” is cocaine. This is absolutely unequivocal.
I always assumed that it came out of the 80’s because that’s the only time I remember cocaine being called “blow” but maybe that’s just my region, or maybe it’s a newer expression.
I wonder if it’s related to the old D&D “whores and ale” expression, which I definitely remember from my gaming in the 80’s, with the sense that it was probably around even before I got into the hobby. It was the same kind of scenario - your adventurers just killed the dragon and are hauling back thousands of gold pieces to the local tavern. What are you going to do? “Spend it on whores and ale!”
