What really gets me about Orly’s birther views is that she herself is a naturalized citizen of the US. She was born, according to Wikipedia, in the old USSR, and is now called Moldavia.

:dubious:Sounds like a sleeper agent to me!😛

From what I can tell, she has no new facts to present. The facts of her case have been heard and decided 13 times. She’s judge shopping, got caught, and lost (again+12).

Somehow I don’t think Taitz is going to end up on the Supreme Court.

Marshall was also well respected by a great many Americans. I doubt she is in any danger of that.

James Carville descibed Pennsylvania as Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Alabama in between. Califormia seems similar to that.

Cali does seem a kinda politically-culturally-schizo state, all right. A mix of lefty moonbats and and righty wingnuts like you’ll find nowhere else. The state that produced Ronald Reagan **and** Jerry Brown, and both of them weak-kneed moderates by California standards.

Florida is schizo too, a “purple state,” but without such a high presence at either extreme; more a matter of fighting over the middle. It’s too hotnhumid here for the level of energy radical politics requires.

Ah, you kids.

Short for both “shenanigan” and my nickname (also derived from the word). There once was a newsgroup for them: alt.shenanigans. A shen is a more gentle, generally legal and non harmful prank.

Needless-but-inevitable gratuitous racist dirty-joke hijack:

President Lyndon Johnson had some business in the Supreme Court building one day, and happened to use the urinal in the men’s room at the same time as Thurgood Marshall (whom Lyndon had appointed to the SCOTUS).

He remarked, "You know what they say about You People . . . "

Marshall (smiling): “Well, as you can see, it’s true.”

Johnson: “Are you just born that way?”

Marshall: “Well, it’s a closely-guarded secret, but since you’ve done so much for me, I’ll tell you. Before we go to bed, we whack our members against the bedpost 50 times. It strengthens it, you see.”

That evening, Johnson enters his bedroom, sees Lady Bird lying asleep on the bed, takes out his member . . . WHACK-WHACK-WHACK . . .

Lady Bird opens her eyes: “Thurgood?! Is that you?!”

alternate punchline:

Lady Bird: “Lyndon?! Lyndon!! Stop acting like a Goddamn nigger and come to bed!”

Ohhh… and he had an actual argument to make… something about rights or some such…

While Orly has no evidence that the president was born any where other than the US and if all of her client’s combined prevailed, that still would not change the election outcome. So, she has no case except for “Wha-wha-wha, WHAAAAAA!!!”

I feel sorry for the judge who has to wrangle her events into some sane semblance of a court hearing so that he can actually provide a ruling. He can’t just tell her to go F herself or call her names. He has to try to solicit something, ANYTHING that resembles an argument so he can make a decision about the argument that she’s presenting. He had to keep a straight face and remain impartial as she compared herself to Marshall.

At some point, there has to be a way to start fining this woman for court costs. I want the payroll covered for every person who had to spend time on her non-sense. The courts are paid for by tax payers, she needs to take her PR stunts somewhere else and run them on someone else’s dime.

Heh. I’m in Davis now and I really, really do not want to leave. So you’re right about that.

If only there were some way to get her shenanigans moved to a “Judge Judy” type court where the judge _could_ tear her a new one for the amusement of the Teeming Millions.

It was a hearing on a motion for summary judgment, and the judge had previously ordered the parties to present only argument on the motion. The record had probably already been closed.

I dunno, I know a few judges and in my experience some of them would regard dealing with an Orly Taitz as the most amusing thing to happen to them all week.

What seems a bit odd to me is that California is a “winner takes all” state yet Orly found two faithless electoral college electors to represent at a hearing. I assume she had to mention their names in court documents which will doubtless see them replaced in the next election. Do I have this incorrect ?

I think they were Republican electors who are suing because they can’t go to Washington because Romney didn’t win. Her initial suits were dismissed because nobody she represented had standing to challenge the election results.
