So in other words, **Bricker** , we are better off papering this over with euphemisms to give the mohels’ motivations the benefit of the doubt? Why? I don’t think anyone gives a good G-ddamn what their motivations are. This is a graphic act that merits graphic description. Sanitizing this ghastly practice isn’t morally neutral; it banalizes something really foul. You may think you owe the mohels the benefit of the doubt. I don’t. ---

I’m not Jewish: but I do wonder… why is it the eighth day after birth? Why not the eighth month? Or the 8th year, and then the circumcision could be bandaged properly with sterile dressings, without being suffocated in a diaper, which do get dirty, and feces is an excellent substance to spread diseases. It’s 2012 and there are plenty of bandage materials available that would do the job without the disease vector of a human mouth to a wound on a little boys penis.
