It’s a stupid custom deserving of mockery that ought to be stopped on the grounds that it carries unacceptable health risks and serves no purpose. Jews and non-Jews alike should have the right to say so without being accused of being on the side of the Nazis.
Again, chickenshit.
I can easily imagine a thread on a Haredi message board criticizing the immodest, disgusting, and dangerous activity of cheerleading.
The risk is 1 in 4000, and disgusting is subjective. The only real problem I see is informed consent. New York City is handling this well. The mohels and the “dick-sucking” ranters? Not so much.
Meconium, they have it in utero. Sometimes under stress they expel it in the womb and that’s a problem.
Find one example of me making any accusation of pedophilia. Just one. Bet you can’t.
Just as you did in the post I replied to, I was using the pronoun in its indefinite sense:
In this post you number yourself with the crowd. Replying to it, I do as well.
What, in the aggregate we’re accusing rabbis of pedophilia but no one poster could be said to be making the accusation? Dumb.
Well, damn! You found me out! I guess I DID express it after all. Gee, you done tol’ me.
No.
Plenty of individual posters made the veiled accusation:
Here are some:
Guin, in her usual desperate attempt to be one of the In Crowd, chose to include herself in this large group. When I replied to her, I was speaking about the group as a whole, and, following her own lead, including her in it.
No, Guin. You didn’t express it. You simply included yourself in the group. I know how important that is to you.
You say veiled accusation, I say reading into other people’s posts. Something which I recall you being very peeved when people do to you.
Surely a hotshot attourney as you like to paint yourself can recognize sarcasm and hyperbole when you see it.
I do NOT believe that mohels are pedophiles. I DO think the practice is unnecessary, and their actions, in this case, are vile. I also think if you feel that accusing me of being a band-wagoner merely to hide the fact that you can’t make a convincing argument yourself makes you feel better, knock yourself out.
Perhaps it’s simply my own bias, but in my view, the examples I gave are very fairly described as veiled accusations – I think Johnny Bravo described them best:
I’m sure what you’ve written is true.
But I don’t believe you said “If we…” in an effort to be sarcastic. The rest of the sentence was sarcasm. The use of “we” instead of just having the courage to claim the action for yourself was part of your “Include Me! Please!” pathos.
I’m happy with the quality of the arguments I have made here. I’m not too thrilled with the general response, but I’m used to disappointment. I’m not persuaded that the science supports an outright ban, and I have already explicitly said I favor the notification under discussion in the OP. What I have consistently opposed is the sophomoric “dick sucking” characterizations to describe the practice.
You should too.
Again, considering your history as a wide eyed blinker, I’d think twice before castigating others for this behavior.
What the hell are you talking about? I’ve never engaged in any such practice – with the possible exception of this thread, in what was hopefully an obvious effort to highlight others doing it.
As a Jew, I’d ask you to cut this schtick out.
You aint doing us any favors.
Yes, it is an ugly tactic.
But why object to my use and not to the “sucking babies’ dicks” rhetoric?
Because the ritual really does include sucking on a baby’s penis.
Yes. But is that the best choice of ways to describe it?
That the point of my reminding people of Barack Hussein Obama. It really is his name. But is it the best way to describe him?
