1928-1947
[1] Citizen Kane (Welles, 1941)
[7] The Maltese Falcon (Huston, 1941)

Double Indemnity and A Brief Encounter are two fine films that didn’t stand a chance against their powerhouse rivals.

1948-1967
[4] Dr. Strangelove (Kubrick, 1964)
[2] The Seven Samurai (Kurosawa, 1954/Japan)

Satire and Samuri’s.

1968-1987
[13] The Princess Bride (Reiner, 1987)
[11] Ran (Kurosawa, 1985/Japan)

I am a little surprised that I am picking Princess Bride over Taxi Driver, but I went to go delete Princess Bride and it just seemed like the wrong choice.
1988-2007
[4] City of God (Meirelles, 2002/Brazil)
[2] Pulp Fiction (Tarantino, 1994)

Anyone who hasn’t seen City of God yet, go rent it this weekend. It’s amazing. Seriously.
