Finally saw _Lady Bird_. Or at least, started to watch then turned it off because it was clearly not aimed at me. As I am not, nor have I ever been, a teenage girl or a parent, and because I used to know people very similar to those characters and found the quite unlikeable, and I find the whole idea of watching dysfunctional families as a terrible way to spend my time, I knew I had to get out of there before I tore my hair out by its roots. Ugh. ---

I have seen eight of the nine nominees for Best Picture. Movie I would vote #1 if I had a vote: _The Shape of Water_ Movies I wouldn’t be terribly disappointed about if they won: _Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Lady Bird Phantom Thread The Post_ Movies that I would be disappointed about if they won (not because they are bad movies, just that they don’t stand out above other good movies not on the list): _Call Me by Your Name Darkest Hour Dunkirk_ Movie I didn’t see: _Get Out_ Movies I am most disappointed about not being nominated: _The Big Sick Wind River Logan The Florida Project_ And, while it is not the subject of this thread, A Fantastic Woman is A Fantastic Film.
