My wife was reading through some of the comments posted at the bottom of a newspaper article on [www.ajc.com](http://www.ajc.com) (Atlanta Journal-Constitution). She said over her coffee “God, people are getting stupider by the day”. I cheered her up (not) by saying “Yeah, but those are the ones actually smart enough to be interested in reading a newspaper article. Think how stupid the other 90% of the population of Georgia is.” ---

_Spacebook Facepages_ are for people who are more concerned with what other people think of them than they should be. Inter-family communication my ass. It’s a new more widely spread form of e-peen stroking. My wife over uses it and I hate it. Way too many pictures of my infant daughter up there… ---

Every time I frequent an industry-related website mostly populated by amateurs and _artistes_ (as opposed to artists, mind you), it’s all I can do to keep my mouth shut and my fingers still. What I’d like to say would probably get me banned; ergo, I don’t go over there very often anymore. It’s a pity because it does have some very helpful tutorials. ---

Something Awful is the best alternative I’ve seen, but the various subforums range from annoyingly unmoderated to way overmoderated. I can’t even deal with single-topic forums any more. At some point, you’ve said everything you want to say, and you’ve gotten every question on the topic answered that you wanted answered. After that, everything just keeps repeating and there’s no longer any point in hanging around. Meanwhile, the SDMB will invariably have _somebody_ who can answer any question on any topic I can think of.
