Craigslist is usually the last result for bulky items I do not wish to ship. While eBay/Paypal is fairly expensive at about 12 to 15 percent of the total purchase price in fees it has given me much higher quality responses over time than any other sale site. Is there a reason using ebay would give you pause? ---

For musical instruments, [Reverb.com](http://Reverb.com) is the way to go. If you just want to get rid of things you’re not using, Craigslist. The only caveat is don’t expect much in the way of decency. ---

I don’t regularly sell on eBay, but I’ve probably sold a couple of dozen items over the years with no problem. ---

For the books what about a used book store. At mine you don’t get money but in-store credit which I use to get more books.
