# Other than roasting by an open fire, any ideas?

Another vote for stuffing.

My grandmother used to make delicious chestnut stuffing, but she boiled them(after piercing). They didn’t get soggy at all - I don’t think there was any difference in texture between those and the roasted chestnuts I’ve had. And I ate a _lot_ of them while ‘helping’ her peel them.
