The anti-vaccine forum at Mothering is just so awful. Literally contagious ignorance. No, measles is not a nice disease. If you have a brain you do not want your child to get measles. Or chicken pox or polio or mumps. No, whooping cough cannot be treated with massive amounts of vitamin C. Whooping cough will break your ribs. Whooping cough is so dangerous in a small baby the baby literally has one in one hundred chance of dying. The standard treatment for a baby with whooping cough is hospitalization you morons. Research consists of taking classes in microbiology not reading bad websites like whale to or think twice. Research most certainly does not consist of reading rantings by Jenny McCarthy or Barbara Fisher Loe. Yes, having the illness may give your child natural immunity. Guess what? You’ll also risk deafness, brain damage, pneumonia and all sorts of other rotten side effects. Because you know what? Diseases suck. You think vaccines are risky? Ha. Try an actual bout of measles or mumps or tetanus. Yes, the pharmaceutical companies make money. No, they don’t make much money on most vaccines. The pHARM companies are not in league with the government and local health officials to harm your child, you dumb fucks. Polio was not gillian barre syndrome. You cannot cure diphtheria with homeopathy. Unvaccinated children are not healthier. Sometimes they’re dead. If they’re not dead it’s because the rest of us are not morons so we vaccinate our children to protect our children AND yours, you ungrateful dimwits. Having a baby does not automatically confer knowledge of every major disease ever known to mankind on Mommy nor does it mean you’re smarter than your pediatrician. No, it is not fun tending to sick children with vaccine preventable illnesses. It isn’t romantic or enjoyable or a sign of a good mommy. In 1899 even in highly industrialized England, 16 out of 100 kids died. You know why? Largely from those very same diseases you want back, you ignorant scum. I hate that forum. HATE IT! Grr . . . . ---

The ‘birth elite’ truly are annoying and pretentious. _I gave birth under a tree! Well, a dolphin was my midwife!_ Its by no means restricted to them, but any forum with a strong anti-Western medicine stance tends to be full of the types who give ‘crunchy’ a bad name. Still, IMDB and Youtube are my picks. From what I’ve heard, 4chan is much, much worse than either, but I refuse to put a pinky toe into that toilet bowl of shit. ---

Oh hell, even the CNN readers comments are a load of shit. Fluff pieces get a lot of “who cares?” and “this is news?” comments. As others tend to respond, “obviously you care or you wouldn’t have read it”. Anything regarding Islam or the Middle East is filled with racist comments and inflammatory remarks. The terminally stupid feel that they have the right to Free Speech, and by gum, they’re going to use it! All of the above makes me happy that I don’t waste my time in all these different places. ---

A poster hurt my feelings so deep, I was caught by surprise by it, and never forgot that he did it, after all these years!) Sports boards, i.e. ESPN or CBS Sportsline, are FULL of know-it-all douchebags who couldn’t _possibly_ be wrong, and those are just the people who actually **agree** with you. Then there are the true trolls, the team fan who posts exclusively on [X’s rival]'s board for no reason other than to be a dick. And of course there are the people who are stupid enough to engage them. ---
