The Englewoood, New Jersey McDonald’s has been destroyed. Fire broke out at five o’clock this morning. The Fire Department is literally around the corner, but to avail. It’s gone. McDonald’s is one of the few places that has been in Englewood longer than I have. How many cups of coffee did I buy there? How many times did I stop to use their bathroom. How many vegetarian breakfast sandwiches did I order? How many times did I use it as a focus point for giving directions? It’s all gone now. I’m in mourning. ---

This isn’t going to help you with your breakfast problems but “Turn left at the burned out shell of a building with a McDonald’s sign” makes a great focus point. I hope no one was hurt. ---

as long as no-one was hurt, who gives a fuck? it takes them about a week to construct a fully operational mcdonalds from pre fab. it’ll probably be back up and running by tomorrow morning. arson? or carelessness? ---

Seeing as how I am well south of the Mason-Dixon line I give and get directions like that all the time. My personal favorite is one that is used frequently in this town. “Turn right were the old Piggly Wiggly use to be”. Directions like that keep the half-backs lost so they spend more time driving and less time complaining about how we do things down here. ---
