Congratulations **SkipMagic**! I think the staff made a good choice in selecting you. Just don’t push all the buttons on your first day. Especially not the big red one that says “BAN FORMER STAFF MEMBER” on it. Good luck! To everyone else, thanks for all the well wishes, they’re genuinely appreciated. I’ve been a mod for about 4.5 years, and quite frankly I thought it was long enough. There is, I can’t deny, a certain amount of repetition that comes with the job. And after a few years, one _does_ lose enthusiasm a bit. Shootin’ trolls can get boring if they’re basically all the same. 🙂 Nevertheless, I’ve always enjoyed giving back to a message board that gave me so much enjoyment. It’s been a lot of fun, working with a group of genuinely smart and frickin’ hilarious staff members. But at the end of the day, I truly do believe that you can only do a gig for so long, and then you need to step aside to give someone else a shot at it. Preferably someone who has the same enthousiasm you had when you started the job yourself, all these years ago. 🙂 I certainly feel that Skippy’s that kinda guy. As some of you know, my life has changed a fair bit over the past year or so. I got married, my wife moved over to the Netherlands. In addition, I got a lot busier at work. All in all, there just wasn’t that much spare time anymore to spend on the SDMB. Rather than become a “ghost mod”, I felt retiring was the fairer option. We’re doing great here in Amsterdam, and I will indeed be enjoying my retirement. And hey, no worries, I’m still a poster. In fact, I can revert back to my pre-mod uncompromised acerbic self now. Muahahahaha. 😃 Thanks again for all the well wishes, and good luck, Skip! Make me proud. 😉 ---
