Our newly adopted kitten doesn't meow. What's the deal?

Some cats don’t “meow.” My Denver never did. Oh, he’d “grak” and “kak” and sound like a '70s funk guitar at times, and so on, but there was never a clear “meow” in his 12 years of life.

He could vocalize, but he never meowed. Didn’t matter; Denny was a wonderful cat anyway.

Yeah, we adopted this huge tux cat from feral. He never said much, but he purred loud. He didnt like being picked up or held, but when he wanted attention, he come up and ask for it and go crazy. My wife said she heard him meow once.

Please bring your cat on for servicing, it is malfunctioning.

Nope. He’s following the Cat Law which says ‘every cat will do something that humans don’t think of cats as doing.’

Not all the same thing, of course; if they all picked the same thing, then it would become something people do think of cats as doing. * I knew one once who loved to eat coffee beans. I had to make sure he didn’t get too many of them.

*people who pay attention to cats, that is. Not the people who claim they don’t blink, or that they (the domestic species) are naturally solitary.

But were they a Professor of Catting at Oxford University? Do they now work for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Feline Planning?

Not that I’ve noticed. But now I’ll be on the lookout for it.

I hope those are real things, that would be purrfect.
