# Out of your league?

I think of all the people I’ve been with, I’ve been in pretty similar standing. I was the more attractive one a couple times, but not by more than one or two points.

An antidote to this “she’s above me” thing…a good friend of mine once said that no matter how gorgeous a woman is, somebody somewhere is sick of her shit.

He was going through a divorce at the time, from a very good-looking and incredibly annoying self-centered woman. But his statement is valid. I am happily married…and still get sick of my wife’s shit sometimes.

As a 43yo lifelong bachelor (and trust me, you’d know the moment you saw me), _everybody_ is out of my league. I’ve dated twice in the past year, both women who had been married before, so I guess I’m doing pretty well, considering.

I dated out of my league once. I was in college and went out with one of the football players, and he was smokin’ hot. (I looked for somebody who looks like he did. Adam Rodriguez is close - this guy had a thinner face and lips, but you get the idea.) I look alright, and at the time I wasn’t fat (though I thought so), but I’ve never even approached that level of hot. When he asked me out, you could have knocked me over with a feather.

As it turned out, I was also way out of his league. He was a shining testament to the power of dumb. I just couldn’t bear it, no matter how stunning he was. (And he was. _Sigh_.)
