According to Matt Roberts, who wrote the print shop episode, he’s giving the fans the reunion twice. First we got Claire’s POV, then we get Jamie’s.

Ah, that makes sense. So next week we go back in time a bit, and end the episode where this latest one ended. The boinking comes in Ep 7.

I think there will be boinking in episode 6. There’s a lot more to get through before the season finale, episode 13. (Hint, the skeleton on Dr. Joe’s desk are relevant.)

Yeah, more likely they won’t use the whole of Ep 6 to just bring us back to where Ep 5 left off. But after his alarming fainting spell, I hope the good Doctor gives the Highland Hunk a thorough going over to make sure his heart is “health enough for sex”, as the ads say.

Yeah, it did not seem like that skeleton was just some throw-away prop. Could it be Claire’s or maybe what’s-her-name-- the other lass who went through the stones from the 1960s?

It was leisurely, but I didn’t mind. It gave me a chance to wallow. There’s a missing line I would have like to see included, but they did an excellent job of the reunion sex, the shyness and wanting to reconnect, and setting it up for the next episode. Plus we get Young Ian and Fergus!
I will watch it many many more times.

Solid episode. Very fulfilling after the wait to get them back together.

I’ve been getting “free Outlander audiobook” offers on my FB – is that what you’re talking about?
I haven’t succumbed, but I got Vol. 2 of the Outlander companion book from the library last week. All the synopses deal with what I think will be Season 4 when they arrive in America. No spoilers, sorry! But there a few hefty essays in there about Black Jack’s sexual deviancy, everyday life in the Highlands, how the author outlines/organizes her writing, and an excerpt from her unpublished family cookbook. Psst…a couple of her recipes sound yummy!

I liked the breakfast scene with the “ladies”, although I can’t say I understood everything that was said. Oh, and “Alexander” wearing glasses. I can relate to that.

The first time I watch is with captions on, so I can catch everything.
I loved how Claire tried to cover herself up. The bashing of the nose was great…sex isn’t always romantic. It’s about learning how to move together and after twenty years they have to figure that out again (although it is like riding a bicycle.)
That was some hot reunion sex too. Loved seeing Fergus and Young Ian. We’re revving up now!

Moving right along, getting our heroes out of Edinburgh and back to Lallybroch, where all hell is about to break loose.
Of course Fergus’ first time was a menage a trois. I love the interaction between him and Young Ian.
Jamie and Claire’s brothel bedroom certainly has a lot of visitors! I liked how Claire was a little put off by Jamie’s lying to Ian about where his son is. I think it shows that Jamie and Claire need each other to keep them straight. Jamie is an honorable man, but the big secret was due to his being caught completely flat footed by Claire’s return. I am not quite so happy with him lying about his nephew, but in the book, that sets up quite the comical scene, so it will be interesting to see if they include it.

I read somewhere that Outlander fandom was upset by this episode because it didn’t follow the book’s trajectory the way other episodes did.
Can anybody confirm this and what the difference between the two is?
One thing I’ve learned about myself by watching: I was never cut out (heheh) to be a surgeon.

I try not to follow those, because it’s usually ignorant people who don’t understand Books Cannot Be Translate Word for Word to Another Medium.
In the book, Young Ian’s deflowering comes after the print shop fire, when Fergus kindly discusses options with Madame Jeanne about which young lady will take Ian’s mind off things. I can see how they’d want to tone that down for a modern audience.
There’s a bit more back and forth, with I think Mr. Willoughby killing the exciseman and a trek to the coast to get rid of the whisky, but I can see why they need to consolidate things.
They also changed Archie Campbell from a reverend to a psychic. They already had one nasty man of God with Father Bain, so they may not have wanted to push it again, considering what happens later.
