Outrageous Confessions From (Former) Restaurant Employees

When I worked in fast food I worked where you prepared the sandwhich. Some would call me a sandwhich “technician”. I can remember the day we had a big sale and (not gonna mention the name of the place) we ran out of cooked roast beef. So the boss made me go back take the roast beef that was only half cooked and slice it up and serve it to everyone. It was beyond rare the middle was completely red and it wasn’t warm to the touch. I will never eat at that place again when there is a sale going on.

My ex-wife was once served a steak that had a cockroach cooked into it. This happened in an upscale kind of place. The manager was horrified, and treated us like royalty for the rest of the evening—no charge for the meal, free drinks, free deserts—I should have asked for a new car.

Actually, my fast food experience was never that disgusting. I worked for a pretzel chain, not to be named. The worst thing I can remeber was playing baseball with the lemons for the lemonade.(already squeezed)

oqh, wait I forgot about the iced tea. It was made everday, (after they stopped saving it from day to day)it a large metal container that sat on the counter, at room temp. Lots of ice was added to make it cold. One day a customer returned a cup with large black floaties in it.That was when I discovered the nozzels could be taked apart and cleaned. Aparantly,it had never been done before. And I used to drink that tea…uuhh.

  1. I used to work as a driver for Domino’s Pizza. I once remember the manager swirling the dough for a pizza. She dropped it on the floor, picked it up, applied the toppings, and stuck it in the oven. She didn’t give it a second thought.

  2. In high school I worked as a dishwasher for a fancy Italian restaurant. There was a commonly-ordered dish (forget what it was called) that basically consisted of 4 or 5 raw oysters on a bed of ice (each oyster in half a shell). Anyway, for some reason it was always the job of the dishwashers to prepare this dish, i.e. open the oysters, dig out the oysters from shell, place the oysters in half a shell, and place on the ice. That’s right, the dishwashers did it!

I don’t know, but I never heard of him ordering again- I know I wouldn’t order again after I sobered up and remembered.
