No, that’s knowingly. I meant it was funny that she kept asking me the same stupid question. It’s not funny at all that she ran over him… in a parking lot.
The problem with the bike is, I weigh about 110 lbs. If he saw a squirrel across the road and lunged for it, he’d drag me and the bike with him out into traffic. Bad, bad idea.
That’s too bad because it’s a fabulous way to tire out a young dog… Another method we use is to get one of us on one side of a big open field with the ball chucker and the other on the other side with the ball slingshot and make the dog chase back and forth between us, playing keepaway with his tennis ball. It drives him nuts but it tires him out–which is the whole point of the exercise!
Whereabouts do you live? Unless you’re in Canada or Minnesota or something he should be just fine as an outdoor dog, really…
I’m in north Alabama. When I was a little kid we used to have really rough ice storms every February, in fact I was born during one. The whole town would be shut down for days. Since about 1995 though we’re lucky to get a little snow. Usually it’s pretty chilly out, sometimes near 0 on the coldest nights, but that’s prety rare. We haven’t had a really dangerously cold winter in years. Like I said, his house is up on the porch, out of line of the winds and rain, he’s got fresh water. He’s got lots of toys and attention. What I need is ideas on how I can give him something soft to lay on that he can’t chew up, some way to insulate his house a little better that he can’t destroy. It won’t get seriously cold out until near Christmas, if then, so I’ve got a while to brainstorm. **Contrapuntal’s **link seems a likely idea right now. I can get a big bale of hay for a few dollars too, that would probably last a while.
I’m in central MS. Doesn’t get quite as cold here, but I vote for the hay. That’s what we use. My friend in North MS used to put a light in her dog’s house for those really cold nights - she just had a utility light on a cord and she hung it in the doghouse. That dog was a Rhodesian Ridgeback, so she had a short coat - she was fine.
