If the SC rules for gay marriage, there is speculation that the issue might become like abortion. Meaning that there will be endless political battles for decades. Don’t think that is likely but we’ll see in a few months.
When the SC threw out laws against marrying someone of another race, nobody fought against that ruling.
It was my experience too, being involved in Catholic education and the (Progressive) Conservative Party, that the majority of women I met who opposed abortion were past their child-bearing years, and the majority of those in favour of choice were women (and men) under 40.
Congrats on that. (Most countries never had anti-miscegenation laws in the first place)
Most US laws are from states , and when the supreme court threw out the law about mixed race marriages that was a law from Virginia . I don’t think all 50 states had that type of law.
This is somewhat circular. Because what is partisan loyalty attributable to? For lots of women, and some men, I am here to tell you that “stance on bodily autonomy and reproductive rights” is right up there.
