I think the tie rate is supposed to be the metric for this sort of thing - “How many games have been sold per console”.
Unfortunately, I don’t have anything more than third hand ‘data’ for that.

Tie rate is a useless statistic because it doesn’t count used games or downloadable games. That said, a little quick math from the document linked above shows that the Wii tie ratio is…
8.6 overall
5.78 in Japan
9.97 in the US
8.06 in the rest of the world
I’ve heard that smartphone device gaming will mean the end of console gaming. The Ouya may be the beginning of a new breed. From what I’ve heard all games on it will be open-source, thus free, to the user.
You heard way, way wrong. It is absolutely not the intention of Ouya’s makers, nor any game publisher, to commit to an exclusively “free to play” (pay to win/pay for content) model, let alone a genuinely free model. Open source means the user will be free to modify the consoles onboard software. Also useful for creating indie games, but make no mistake, every gaming platform out now and in the future has/will have extensive support for indie developers so this is something of a futile gesture. So basically just being able to modify your system ala Linux PC’s.
Also, smartphones pose a pretty dire threat to handheld gaming consoles, but home consoles are a very different story.
