There has been talk about a potential for the next pope to be from latin america. Imagine a Pope Jesus.
I think the age restriction, which is really just a mandatory retirement age, is a legitimate policy to insure somewhat against the very real risk of Cardinals who have “lost their fastball” taking part in the Conclave.
