Maybe she was a fair witness.

Was she wearing a robe?

Yeah! And while you’re at it, stop discriminating against lazy people as well. We prefer the term “energy-efficient”.

Hello! The elevator is there to elevate people from one floor to another. If they didn’t want you to use it for short trips, there’d be a 2-floor minimum.

Lady 2: Oh, does the window in there face east?
Lady 1: No, I think it faces south during the morning.
Holy shit, you work in the same building as Mrs. Claus!
As far as the stairwells being locked, it’s usually the law. If the building catches fire, the fire dept doesn’t want people coming back in. You go into the stairwell and walk to the ground and outside. It’s for your safety, not your convienence.
That setup killed some people in Chicago a year or so ago. They were descending a stairway but kept going down into thicker and thicker smoke, and couldn’t leave to try another stairwell once they were locked inside it. High rise buildings in the area have since changed their policies - for instance, many with electronic locks on those doors have set them to go unlocked during a fire.
