# Ow, ow, ow, geezz that hurts.......

This morning notice a bit of skin sticking up near my right thumbnail. I grabbed it with my left thumb and forefinger and gave it a quick pull.  
#$$&^&_^_&%%#%@#&\*\_(\*&)&\*%#%@#%$#\*%^(.

From near my thumbnail all the way to the thumb joint I now have a painful wound. It was the kind the more you pull, the deeper the skin tore. Just before the joint the skin finally gave way. I put a band aid on it but it still stings. I did use the injury as an excuse to get out of stuffing life vests into airplane passenger seats though.

That’s a hangnail. Evil little bastards.

Cut 'em off with nail clippers instead of pulling them off. I know of which I speak.

They can get seriously infected (I know this from experience) so keep it clean and medicated.

You might google “hangnail” and see if you can find some lovely pictures of fingers that split like sausages because of the infection. Eeeewwww…
