# Oxnard, California here I come!

No sales tax in Montana (which is where I used to live), which confuses certain visiting Coloradoans like **BobotheOptimist**. Lots of sales tax in Colorado and California, which confuses the hell out of **me**.

That isn’t cool, even if I won’t ever be targeted. Hmmm . . . Monday immediately before lunch, I blatantly jaywalked downtown (didn’t dawn on me that it is illegal here) right beside a motorcycle cop – who merely glanced at me. Before I got out of earshot, a young man got cuffed and arrested for jaywalking (well, either for jaywalking or for being mouthy about it) right behind me. At the time, I assumed that the arrestee had been doing something else bad. Now I wonder if it was because I am a middle-aged, stuffy-looking white woman, but he was a young, scruffy-looking brown (latino?) male.
