I should have known some one else would have offered the “red brick road leads to the hanging tree.”… But snopes tells us otherwise.
On where the red ends… It ends 8 or so years in Dorothy’s past…How else can you have such a B rated film that defys all logic to make the near steaming pile film known as “Return to Oz” (a 4-6 year old dorothy with another supporting cast, a talking chicken, Pumpkinhead, a Moose, and a lot of statues.)
On the Hourglass thing… Couldn’t dorothy just rotate it once it was near empty?
Something I Noticed recently: How exactly could the Wizard guarantee that Dorothy would get back to kansas in his Balloon?
Actually, pretty much everything in Return to Oz, including the talking chicken, the lunch box trees, the Rollers, Jack Pumpkinhead, the Gump (the sofa with a moose head), the Nome King and the eggs, TikTok, and the statues, was in the Oz books, only not quite in the same order or with that same plot.
Actually, it should be said that she was older than she should have been in the original. In the book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Dorothy is definitely no more than eight years old.
Yeah, the sequel was a combination of Ozma of Oz and the Wonderful Land of Oz.
Interestingly, the movie is scarier then the books. That movie scared me as a kid. I read the book recently and I wonder why I was scared…maybe I need to see the movie again.
