That commercial was my source, Wendell Wagner, and tv never lies. Shrimp is also American slang for a small person, and Barbie is, of course, a very popular (and quite small, except for the boobs) doll. Great fodder for dirty minds.
In the last ten years or so most people I know have taken to calling large shrimp “prawns”, and small prawns “shrimp”. I don’t know. Gimme a big plate of crayfish while I think about it.
