PA budget crisis; does this mean we're going dry?

“Rock, hammer, scissors”? That’s a new one for me. How could anything beat a hammer?!

Liquor stores will be open, but I was considering starting a Pit thread about this. You see, there were 2 articles in the local paper last week. One said a service which provides transportation to their jobs for poor people will be shut down if a budget doesn’t pass. Another said a state legislator up in Erie was suing to keep our new casinos open. This morning the news said the casinos were open, but I suppose if you’re someone who’s working poor and in one of the neighborhoods served by the transportation service, you’re SOL. Wonderful priorities. We’ll fight to keep ways for people to lose money open, but not for ways for people to earn money.

I think it’s about time I wrote a couple of legislators and remind them that I expect them to do their jobs! Surely a basic role of the legislature is to pass budgets to keep the mechanism of government running. If they can’t do that, what are we paying them for again?

Maybe you can get liquor reform passed.

I feel it should be mandatory that legislature be locked in like jurors when something like this occurs. It doesn’t matter if it’s a holiday, or anything else. Solve it or stay sequestered.

Downtown Harrisburg is nearly dead this morning. Not quite a ghost town, but nearly there.

I know of one Hammer done in by financial mismanagement…

Hey, it’s worked for the Roman Catholic Church for centuries.

Pfft. I was raised in Altoona. Our downtown’s been dead for 25 years…

A deal has been struck.

For some reason, at the time that I’m writing this post, that story’s accompanying picture is of a Ford Taurus that was smashed by a fallen wrecking ball.

Yer not from around here, are ya boy? :stuck_out_tongue:
Not picking on you, but the idea of any type of “reform” or even change to the liquor laws, makes Pennsylvanians wish for the ROFLMAO smilie.

I saw that! Freudian Slip of a link.

No, it was his goofy haircuts that did him in.
