They showed kids a picture of Kerry in a suit looking really serious and a picture of Bush in shirtsleeves and a big smirky smile on his face and asked them which one they liked. Now me, I think Bush is really creepy-looking, but that’s mainly because I know what goes on behind that smirk. And didn’t Teresa Heinz’s pumpkin spice cookies beat Laura Bush’s oatmeal chocolate chip cookies in the cookie contest? (I think it was a _Good Housekeeping_ or _Ladies Home Journal_, can’t remember) We could sit here until Tuesday trying to figure this shit out. ---

I can’t say how terribly distressed I am at how closely this election is divided. It’s just… … I don’t know. I feel like we should know who would be ahead by now. Maybe it’s just that I’m terrified that it is Bush who appears to be slightly ahead. I don’t even want to THINK about the electoral college vote. ---

This is what I wrote on the message board on my door: Historically: Green Bay 28 - Washington 14 : Bush loses election But: New England 20 - Pittsburgh 34 : Bush wins PA (21) And: Detroit 21 - Dallas 31 : Bush wins MI (17) And: Jacksonville 6 - Houston 20 : Bush wins FL (27) Therefore: Kerry wins popular vote Bush wins electoral college Therefore: Election goes to lawyers. We’re all screwed. Any questions? Correct? Probably not. Funny? I hope so. Grain of truth? Most likely. ---

If the election goes to the Courts again, I hope that the insurgents/terrorists/freedom fighters/whatevers appreciate the humor in the situation of a country trying to bring democracy to someone and not being able to democratically elect its own leader. ---
