I grew up in Philly, and it was “Padoodle”. Somehow from Harrisburgh to Philly, a vowel transformed.
And yep, I’d go rooting around for a kiss from my dear heart if I called it first- or vice versa, if she did. Kind of lent a very gently romantic air to a normal boring thing you see. I loved it. I said it once after I got married, and my wife ( A Pittsburgher ) looked at my like I had two heads. I do, but I still took umbrage.
