Um, why?
“Old China plate” rhymes with “Mate”
I’m sure google can find you a list of cockney rhyming bollocks.
That was definitely Brooke naked in Pretty Baby, but nude doubles were used in the other three movies.
“Bollocks and wang” = “slang”?
Last week’s Sunday Times (22nd July) - a relatively high-brow broadsheet but from the same stable as The Sun (News International = Murdoch) - featured a naked, heavily pregnant 15-year old on the cover of its colour supplement, illustrating a “serious” item about underage - sorry, “gymslip” - mothers.
OK, it was posed like that famous pic of wassername, used to be married to Bruce Willis; you couldn’t see her nipples or minge or anything, but still it was an underage girl with her kit off.
Porn? Tittillation? Legitimate social comment?
Probably all three.
The holy trinity of modern media. They hit the jackpot with that one.
I saw an interview on Blue Lagoon that said it was her, but they had taped her hair down over her breasts (her mother insisted on this) so there would be technically no “nudity”.
Rogue prosecutors are a danger for any crime whatsoever, as the Duke lacrosse case just proved. There is no real evidence that false prosecutions for child porn are any more or less rampant than other false prosecutions. I was just making a technical point.
However, depictions of child nudity as art can be found all over the country, both in print or online. Check the photography of artists like Sally Mann, David Hamilton, or Jock Sturges.
True nudist or naturalist pictures are also easily available, and these can feature people of any age from babies in arms to 80+. None of these are prosecuted.
Given how many DAs have been shot down by courts telling them to back off busting parents for pictures of their cute nude children, the danger is mostly theoretical. A Page 3 girl from 20 years ago wouldn’t pass the laugh test.
Watching the movie is a good cite. Brooke spends a lot of time nude, including running around, always in full body shots with her face quite visible. This is never how body doubles are used, and the technology to paste her head on another girl’s body wasn’t that good at the time. Besides, that would just push the issue back off to another little girl. In addition, both at the time and since, numerous articles and books have talked about her nudity in the film.
She was 12 during filming, BTW.
There was full nudity in the underwater scenes, using a swimming double.
You know a Page 3 Bat Boy, that might have saved the Weekly World News.
This is is that the UK has the age of consent at 16, and the US has it at 18. So 16 year old girls talking about their favourite sexual positions etc. is perfectly legal, if a bit icky.
Since page 3 is mostly a girl in a pair of skimpy panties cupping her breasts, it doesn’t even hit the “soft core” area of my brain.
Actually, in the majority of U.S. states, the age of consent is 16: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia.
The age of consent is 17 in Colorado, Illinois, Lousiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, and Texas.
You’re confusing a number of items that are, at least in the U.S., totally different.
Our first amendment covers speech. So there is no written equivalent to the penalties for child porn. You can write anything you like about children and sex, of any kind, with any person of any age, and it is completely legal. The internet is full of the stuff. Talk about “favourite sexual positions” doesn’t even come close, no matter the age of person doing the talking. (Again, a local prosecutor may decide that something is obscene, which is still legally prohibitable, but, again, I can’t think of the last time such a case was upheld for purely written material. There have been a couple of high profile cases that involved visual media, though, but that’s a couple over the last decade or so.)
Second, the age of consent in the age is the age at which a girl may have sex with someone near to her own age without anyone worrying about statutory rape, as Walloon’s post. (I made the qualification because some states allow teens to have sex with one another but have prohibitions on adults more than, say, five years older having sex with that teen. There are many state by state variations.) That age is entirely separate from the age at which teens are allowed to be visually depicted in sexual situations, which is 18.
The ages of consent I listed above are for partners of any age.
This site, STATE AGE OF SEXUAL CONSENT LAWS, disagrees with you.
Actually, it doesn’t, with the narrow exceptions that in:
• Illinois, 18 is the minium age at which any school employee in a “position of authority” can have sex with a student. Guess that means janitors and cafeteria workers get a free pass.
• Indiana and New Hampshire, an adult in a supervisory position cannot have sex with a minor 16-17.
• Kansas, a school employee cannot have sex with a student 16-17.
• Massachusetts, if a minor 16-17 is a virgin, sex is illegal.
The information about Texas in the table you linked to is incorrect. Texas statute.
Really minor nitpick:
It’s “naturist,” not “naturalist.”
(Sorry, but Roger Tory Peterson’s ghost was starting to panic. Otherwise, I agree with you. :D)
“Pretty Baby” is a pretty cool film, too…regardless of how one feels about Brooke’s nudity (I, personally, as someone close to her age, appreciated it).
It’s amazing how bent out of shape people get at the drop of a hat over this kind of thing.
naturist photos and naturalist photos get an almost equal number of hits in Google. Both bring up lots of pages of nudes, though admittedly you can find the other meaning of naturalist in them.
The courts decided in favor of Jock Sturges regarding photos of naked children as art.
Sorry no link, even a google search link shows nudity (not porn).
