It may not be what you’re thinking of (unless you’ve read it) … it’s the one Gnouy Lien presumably thinks everybody knows. I know it wasn’t on p. 56, but I saw a line that was very similar to what **ultrafilter** posted in another book I read a few weeks back. (It suggested that Markov chains were almost only usable for their long-term behavior). ---

Can we do this as a game again, once in awhile? I really like it, and not just for stichomantic purposes, although it’s great for that too. I find the juxtapositions really delightful and amusing.
