I don’t suppose this is a mishap, but a friend had a room-mate in the dorms who had rug burn on her face one day. When she asked how it had happened (because it looked pretty bad), the room-mate said “Oh, I guess I shouldn’t have put my face against the carpet”. For some reason they eschewed the dorm bet for the dormroom carpet. Ouch. ---
