What’s the big deal? It is like Bill Clinton delivering a speech about AIDS in Africa-he is paid $500,000 routinely to deliver speeches on topics he knows little or nothing about. Or Al Gore holding forth on global warming-while he uses a fleet of 9 MPG SUVs. Tempest in a teapot. ---

You know that, I know that… but a few years ago, Keith Olbermann pretended\* to be outraged that Dick Cheney always wanted hotels to provide him with bottled water, diet Sprite and a Wall Street Journal. No matter WHAT a conservative asks for, it’s shocking! \*I HOPE he was pretending, because if it actually DID outrage him, he’s crazier than I thought. ---

CSU claims the funds to pay Palin came from private donors. Frankly, her rider is no big deal; nothing really outrageous in there, nothing over the top. The big brouhaha comes from the fact that CSU should not have been shredding documents, particularly under cover of night. ---

As much as I dislike the woman, this seems pretty standard. The shredding of it in the middle of the night… not so much. ETA: And the Iggy Pop rider was a really fun read, especially since I used to play music on stage… a long time ago. ---

Yeah, she was solidly in the “maverick” camp back before she ran for goober. People had respect for her combative stance against the entrenched Republican machine in Alaska. That was, of course, before she became so precious to herself. ---

What’s the big deal? If I were in her shoes, I’d definitely spell out business or first class for all my traveling. Period. Does that make me a dick? Don’t know, don’t care. I do know it makes me comfortable during the flight and I can get plenty of work done in the air, and I’ll be well-rested (if that’s what I want) whenever I get to where I’m going. ---

As much as I dislike Palin, I have to admit, if I was in demand as a speaker or entertainer, I’d sure try to get all of MY contracts to specify that I was to fly first class. I’m quite short, and even _I_ find that there’s not enough leg room (let alone butt room) in the smaller planes. I am a whisper over five feet tall, and from what I can tell, just about everyone flies with their knees against their ears if they fly in the cheap seats.
