You can get away with saying stupid things every now and then if you also say smart things. Obama says smart things all day, and occasionally brilliant things, so when he says something stupid he gets the benefit of the doubt. Even the gaffe-prone Biden has a favorable ratio of smart to stupid things said. Palin builds up no such goodwill. If she’s capable of saying smart things, she manages to suppress that ability almost completely. I’d have forgiven the North Korea slip if her answer had demonstrated any understanding whatsoever of the situation. If you had asked for her opinion on the current events between North and South Suckitstan, she could have given the same answer, up to and including the uncertainty about which Suckitstan is our ally. ---

I suspect it _isn’t_ even a brain fart. In the book _Game Change_, one of the specific examples of Palin’s ignorance given is that she didn’t know why the Koreas were split. However, even if it were a brain fart - which I admit is possible and lord knows I have them often enough - her reaction has been shockingly devoid of class. I didn’t know anything about her daughter calling people fat faggots or anything until I read this thread. It does make me question Ms. Palin’s judgment and morals in raising a child who would talk like that, but it’s possibly my own biases are coming into play here. And, well, what **DoctorJ** said. ---

Back when the whole fooferaw about the reporter renting the house next to hers I looked at where her house was. Did it totally fucking excape her tiny little mind that she is within shouting distance of a fucking HOTEL?
