In this morning’s paper, we’re treated to more apparent abuse of power problems with ol’ Winky McGuv. Police are complaining that there was political pressure brought to bear in the case of Levi Johnston’s drug-dealing mother. It seems they were ready to move on her earlier last year, but were pressured to delay any action until after the election (or so they claim). A second editorial questions Levi Johnston’s sudden hiring as an electrician apprentice on the North Slope by a Native corporation. See, Johnston doesn’t have a high school diploma and the rules clearly state that an apprentice must have completed high school. The corporate head of the apprentice program claims not to know of that rule, but it’s common knowledge to anybody involved with unions. Also suspect is how Johnston managed to get to the head of the waiting list so quickly, when there are easily a hundred applicants at any given time. North Slope jobs are plums and apprenticeships are gold in the bank. Sounds like more of First Dude peddling his wife’s ass again for personal gain. Care to comment, Governor? I thought not. ---

Clairobscur, I’m not sure you every had a president of the Republic as embarrassing as Sarko. A google of Sarkozy and conneries yields quite interesting results. BTW, I love France and the French. Just a remark that no country is impervious to election a dunderhead or autocratic dimwit. ---
