OK, so this will be my daughter’s 1st pancake day. Technically it’s her second I suppose, but as she wasn’t eating “real” food last year, I’m not counting it. When I was growing up, the condiment of choice for pancake day was fresh squeezed orange juice and sugar. My wife grew up with lemon juice and sugar. What did you grow up with? Also is shrove tuesday UK-centric, or is it more widespread? ---

Lemon juice and sugar for me. Although one year I made savory pancakes too, with a spicy minced beef filling. ---

I have no idea how widespread Pancake Day is. I don’t think we have it here (Holland), since we have Carnival to live it up before Lent. In this house, jam and molasses and sugar are the regular toppings for pancakes. ---

I can’t remember the brand, but they were the ones that had one granule of mince meat in them, and they were an orange colour. There was more meat on a butcher’s pencil. ---

Lemon juice and sugar here too. Although my savoury pancakes involved adding Southern Comfort to the batter just before cooking. ---

Lemon juice and sugar for some. Golden syrup for some more. Chopped, lightly cooked apple and cinnamon for a few more. Ice cream and… well, anything I can raid from the cupboards from that point onwards, until the pancakes run out. ---

My parents favoured lemon juice and sugar. However, lemon went onto my list of foods to loathe, so I was allowed to substitute orange juice. I do not / can not cook, so I miss Shrove Tuesday. ---

Easter and Lent seem to have caught me by surprise this year, it feels a bit too early for some reason. My little girl has a tummy bug, so I doubt pancakes would go down too well at the moment sadly. ---

Pancake day? Oh, another day for [Shrove Tuesday](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancake_Day), got it. Which I always thought was the same as [Fat Tuesday](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_Tuesday), but for some reason there’s two distinct entries in Wikipedia. Huh. But anyway, I had no idea this was a traditional day of eating “pancakes” (which are apparently really thick crepes). Learn something new all the time. Meanwhile, I’ll stick with my traditional American pancakes and real 100% maple syrup, thank you. Mmmmm, maple … ---

Pancake Tuesday here. I’ve never heard it called Pancake Day before (small difference I know). Don’t forget your pancakes on jiff lemon day as the advert used to say. Sugar and lemon. If I’m feeling indulgent, icecream and nutella. ---

You just squeeze on the juice and then sprinkle on the granulated sugar, then roll the pancake up and eat it. ---
