Parachuting from 23 miles up.

My camping trip was canceled due to weather so I can watch after all. I hope they go this time!

Lift off!

And they’re off!

6 miles up and going well so far.

Here’s the link to the live Youtube feed.
And here’s a link to their page that gives some cool extra info and graphics along with the feed, though even with my script blocker off, I wasn’t able to get the feed to load.

Edit: About 40 minutes in, and he’s at ~43,000 feet up. The jump is scheduled when he get to ~120,000, right?

Right- 120,000 ft. is the target altitude.

Anybody know approximately how long it’s sposed to take for him to reach 120k feet?

Apparently BBC is making a documentary about this whole project. Should be fascinating.

I think they said 2 to 3 hours total.

Earlier they said about 2 hours, and he’s right on pace: 61,000 ft now after 1 hour.

Hmm some problem? I think Felix was saying he couldn’t feel heat and then the audio was cut off.

64,000 feet up, on the way to 120k.

Live feed on Velocity at this time.

I somehow previously missed the claustrophobia angle. Wow. That increases my level of amazement.

I missed that, but the data readout below the video says the capsule temp is about 52-53 F. Maybe he was talking about the heater is his suit?

75,000 feet. He seems to be climbing at about 1000 - feet per minute. MAybe the jump is 45-50 minutes off.

Yeah it sounded something like that. Anyway it’s presumably fine now.

The commentator just mentioned that the problem was about the faceplate heater.

That looks a lot like the Blackbird, doesn’t it? All it needs is an Oscillation Overthruster.

I can’t believe how high he is… the curvature of the earth is plainly visible.

I’d be fighting hard to stay rational and not worry about “missing” the planet on the way down.

Yeah, those are some awesome shots from the outside of the capsule.
