My nearly three year old son hums the parts in the songs that I hum to when I’ve forgotten the lyrics. It is very amusing.

He reads (sorta) along with me when I read his favorite books. ( Right now, it’s Bob the Snowman. And being that there is a ton of snow on the ground, Bob the Snowman is every where this winter.)

My daughter will be 1 on the 29th and has been walking since beginning of December. She doesn’t eat, instead, she gets her daily nutrition by rubbing her food on her face and then throwing it on the floor.

The dog now weighs 102 pounds.

My 3yr old said “Look Mommy, It’s the Wolf Moon!” and it was!

My 8yr old wrote a lette at school saying that he had the greatest mom ever and he told me that I was pretty yesterday!

I love my kiddies!

baby\_thur (14 months today!!) can do all the hand motions and sing a few of the words to _Itsy Bitsy Spider_, can imitate farm animal noises (“moo” is his favorite), loves to dance, has a quick and ferocious temper, sings with me with his little head on my shoulder, and loves to read. I cherish each day that I watch him grow and learn.

My daughter has head lice again. So I’m home, and as soon as I finish my coffee, I’m going to clean the house. Again.

Why is this in the parental pride thread? Because not once since we began this ferocious lice battle has my daughter complained about the time I have to spend combing out her hair. She normally hates having me comb her hair (just me–she’ll let anyone else in the world do it), but for some odd reason, she likes it when I use the “very special comb” on her hair (_I’m_ not gonna tell her she’s got bugs in her hair).

Parental Pride is a wonderful thing.

Chancling Baby Kate (8 months) has learned how to wave bye-bye this week. She’ll do it to everyone she meets.

I couldn’t be prouder. I tried to teach her and she learned!

God, kids are wonderful!

How about Uncle Pride?

Nephew 1 was acquitted on all counts.
Nephew 2 finally kicked that dirty ole Smack habit.

Their mama must be so proud. 😃

My five year old has been reading like nobody’s business lately. I’m proud as heck, but I honestly have no idea what to do with him. The pace in his kindergarten class has the kids learning how to read “cat” and “dog.” Meanwhile, he took _Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone_ to bed with him the other night and read the first three chapters by himself.

On the other hand, he still hasn’t learned how to tie his shoes very well.

My 11-year old son won the geography bee in his school. It runs 5-8 and he’s in 6th grade, which means he beat out all the 7th and 8th graders too. Took a test to see if he’ll go to the state capital for the statewide bee.
AND he’s in the advanced classes for his grade too. Yippee!

Ah, crap. Guess I’ll be the youngest one there.

Not that she’d like me. I’m an old college fart.

My second grade daughter just came home the other day with a note from her teacher saying she had been named a “super speller” for the second grade. Hurray - maybe my kids will learn to spell without a spellchecker after all!

And - all 3 of my kids (almost 9, 71/2, and 5) know most of the words to all the songs in “Les Mierables.”

Aked my 6 year-old what he wanted to be when he grew up. His reply: “a sponge.”
Asked my 10 year-old what he wanted for Christmas. His reply: “a toilet for my room so I don’t have to walk down the hall in the middle of the night.”
_That’s_ the kind of stuff that makes me proud.

Give him a kitchen sponge and say, " Here’s your future wife."

Nice to see a kid with high aspirations.

Proud Parenting Moment today:

My son had a big boy cup of milk at my mom’s . As mom and I were talking, my son unscrewed the salt and poured it into his milk and all over the table. Then proceeded to drink the milk, nearly vomiting at the taste.

and probably won’t ever be, but I am a proud auntie. My 21 month-old nephew while bravely trying to master the intricacies of the potty made a little puddle in the floor. Quietly, he went and got his remote-controlled puppy (a Christmas gift) and placed it next to the accident scene. Then he ran and told his father, “Dog, go!” 😃

Oh, and they’re all gorgeous and charming.
