I can’t claim to have seen the Care Bears movie, but I vividly remember reading the review in the Washington Post when it came out. I was inspired to dredge it up from the archives for those who need a laugh.

Thomas and the Magic Railroad

My little son kept asking me “What’s going on?” “Who’s that” “What are they doing?”

And to all his questions I had to very honestly answer “Honey, I have no idea either.”

Confusing, illogical, bad bad bad!

I think we’ll have a new candidate soon (think “_Stuart Little_ without the nifty visual effects”).

interesting

it’s this attitude of the american public:

> [@](#):
>
> And you can save all your testimonials to the brilliance of Roald Dahl, and the wonderful ending. IMHO, none of that excuses the unrelenting bleakness and mean-ness of the hour or so we sat through. I thought it was pretty inexcusable that such utter dreck would be marketed as childrens’ entertainment.

that results in movie producers making this sort of movie:

>
> You people are obviously too young if you missed “The Care Bears Movie”

Any animated sequel by Disney. Perhaps _Lady and the Tramp II_ is the worst of them that I’ve seen.

I liked the Pokemon movie. I’ve also seen parts of Matilda and thought it was cute. I wanted to see Thomas the tank engine but I missed it. ☹

Now that Kazaam movie (we had free passes) is one of only two movies I’ve ever walked out in the middle of. The other was Mission Impossible 2.

I want to see the sequel to the Little Mermaid, but I am not sure of any way I can rent it and watch it in this house and still maintain my dignity. (The youngest person living here is 16.)

[Chris Farley]
THE BEES! THE BEEEEES!!! YOUR WEAPONS ARE USELESS AGAINST THEM!!
[Chris Farley]

Hmm, not a movie, but the other day I was in a pizza-serving establishment that had a large TV playing a cartoon show called “Hey Arnold”.

The episode was based around the misadventures of a girl who wrote a poem expressing her love for another character, and then that poem was at risk of being discovered by her crush. Remember that they’re all in like the 4th grade.

One of the lines in the poem was “_You make my girlhood tremble_”. Whoah! This was clearly a show directed toward kids, and that was waaaaay too dirty. Even if it wasn’t for kids, the girl’s in the 4th grade! Nobody wants to hear that.

I don’t know, **jinwicked**. I saw the sequel to the Little Mermaid while sitting on a bus full of high school students. Surely convincing everyone in your house to watch it with you couldn’t be that hard.

It’s good for a laugh. A very long, maniacal laugh.

jessica, who thankfully has not seen a kids’ movie since the Little Mermaid sequel

“A Rats Tale” - is the most horrible waste of money and time ever conceived. It was excrutiating to watch, and this comes from a mother who has seen **every single kids’ movie ever made.** It was worse than “Pokeman”, worse than “My Little Pony”, worse than “Speed Racer - The Movie”!

This movie was done with puppets, and apparently the puppeteers were 9 year olds with nothing better to do on the day of filming. Gah! It was **bad!**

[Santa’s Magic Fountain](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0055121) hand’s down. My mom took me and my neighbor to see this at the theatre back in the late 70’s. The hell was that all about? Turns out it was made in 1961 and they created a wraparound of Santa teling a story to two idiot kids. Other than that, Santa had nothing to do with this movie! False advertising, I say! I never bothered looking it up on IMDB until now and I see it was originally just called The Magic Fountain. Either way it was indeed magic…it made an hour and a half of my childhood disappear.

I’m a bit of a Pokemon fan myself, but the first movie really didn’t make much sense. I don’t know if it was mistranslated or what, but I can see why non-Pokemon fans wouldn’t like it. What was the “message” supposed to be, anyway? Fighting is wrong? But, they’re trained to fight! I didn’t get it. I liked the second movie, though, simply because it played up the Ash/Misty relationship subtext.

No children’s movie I’ve seen for my daughter’s sake has been nearly as bad as the _Dungeons & Dragons_ movie that I saw for my husband’s sake. Bleah! A cheap rip-off of _The Phantom Menace_ and a few other movies, with some dragons thrown in there. The DM should have gotten a few more campaigns under his belt before he wrote this one.

Well, this probably doesn’t count because we walked out of it, but “Inspector Gadget.” And this was sad, because the premise had potential.

My one-time boyfriend once bought me the movie “Gordy” thinking it was going to be a lot like “Babe.” Holy sweet mother of huffalumps, that was a dumb movie. _shudder_
