I know teenage girls who see Paris Hilton as their idol - when she came to Melbourne, some girls _cried_ when they got a glimpse of her. So there are loads of people who just want Paris to go the hell away, but there are also people who want to see what she does because they’re genuinely interested, or for the trainwreck quality. ---

If Paris Hilton were to commit a violent crime, it would make headlines. So how is this different from anyone else? My good deeds have rarely made the paper, and when they have it was for things much more significant than helping one little old lady cross the street. However, if I assaulted a helpless old woman, I’m sure it would make the local news. Here in Japan violent crime is rare enough that it might be national news, and since I’m a resident alien I could even see it ranking a mention on the international news. How unfair of the media to hypothetically make a global scandal of my imaginary crime, when they’ve done so little to recognize my equally fictional aid of elderly pedestrians! ---

By the way : am I the only one who thinks she isn’t pretty at all? I think she is absolutely revolting. Her sister Nicky however, hmmmmmmm. People have already told me I have a peculiar taste in women, but I can’t believe I am the only one who find Nicky much more attractive than Paris. ---

We may very well be seeing the real _personality_, but we’re not seeing her in _situations_ that are normal for her. So who can say what her moral code really is? Still, I think the second series should have had a disclaimer, like **Jackass** had: “These young women are dishonest and irresponsible. Don’t do this at home or anywhere else.” ---

I was just today thinking back on stupid things I did in my early twenties… It’s a stupid age in a lot of ways. Looking back on when I was cute and early 20s-ish, I can imagiine myself boring my friends with my decision to expand my dating horizons to nice-guys-regardless-of-their-looks. What I can’t imagine doing – not even had I been famous – was making a _public announcement_ about it. Of course, we’re all here talking about it, but still – I’d feel ridiculous if I were her. She sure doesn’t have much of a private dimension, does she? (And, yes, I realize that, given the famous video, that last line was a monumental understatement.) ---
