I wonder if she will publish a knitting tutorial? I’m envisioning Google offering up search hits, “did you mean Paris Hilton _socks_ video”?

> I spent a few minutes googling her DJ career. She got destroyed the first time she DJed in public. The crowd booed and the media was promoting the fact that she sucked and didn’t know what she was doing. She actually had to learn how to DJ, how to make her name something that was a draw for people when she DJed. I imagine that is the case today, because she doesn’t have a TV show anymore, and while she’s a “name”, it’s just as easy for that name to kill you as save you. It’s not hard for a celeb to become a has-been working for scraps.

Paris Hilton did not “get destroyed” after her first DJing gig in Brazil. She got made fun of and poo-poo-ed, but you can’t destroy something that is barely there to begin with. Paris Hilton was never going to be “a has-been working for scraps”; she was born wealthy. There is no “learning to be a DJ” other than “learning to look like people expect a DJ to look”; see my previous link for details.

I do.

> What’s interesting is that there are people here who are criticizing her for merely inheriting her wealth and people are criticizing her for working for her wealth. She probably could have pulled off a trust fund lifestyle, but apparently she had greater ambitions.
>
> Now, you may mock those ambitions because you don’t find her ‘schtick’ to be any good, but I think it would be foolish to mock it because you don’t realize it’s her ‘schtick’. Andy Kaufman did the whole ‘outrageous person, and you don’t know if he’s being sincere’ thing, too.

I’m not mocking her at all. I’m just not willing to hold her up as someone who is worthy of plaudits. She has not achieved anything great: she’s paid lots of money by people with lots of money to hit “play” and then look like what they think Paris Hilton as a DJ should look like. See my previous link for more details on the job.

She didn’t start with nothing; she started with everything. She wasn’t unknown with no leverage: she was rich and famous and had a ton of leverage.

Are we gonna hold up all rich kids who don’t live as hobos as “great successes” and “really smart people”? I hope not because in in my experience, in most cases they aren’t.

I don’t know how smart or dumb she is but iirc, she got hacked in the initial fappening matter because her security question was what is her dog’s name. Thar little dog she kept in her purse, Tinkerbell, was nearly as famous as she was.

That article is not talking about her father _Richard_ Hilton, but rather her grandfather the grandiloquently but appropriately named _Barron_ Hilton. Richard Hilton does indeed have cause to be pretty pissed at his daughter because she cost _her father_ hundreds of millions of dollars, not just herself. Since he was one of Barron’s eight children he was probably due a lot more than that article implied, because it is pretty likely Barron would have left more to his kids than the grandkids.

Not that it really matters to anyone but a Hilton heir. As is usually the case with family money and connections breeding yet more money, Richard Hilton is quite legitimately worth hundreds of millions on his own. He just missed out on probably doubling his already huge fortune.

Ha ha- that was hilarious. Stupidy funny. Hilton has clearly not spent much time in any kitchen much less the one she is working in.

And don’t cooking videos usually involve the chef tasting the dish and declaring how good it is? I’m guessing lasagna isn’t a regular part of Hilton’s diet.

I presume this video is some combo of getting her name back into the public eye and probably writing off a house purchase and some dog costumes as a business expense.

Based on a certain video I’ve seen she is likely better at giving BJ’s than being a DJ. But only slightly.

She copied tracks put together by established DJs, and was successful, and that proves… what, exactly? That plagiarism pays off?

Oh, and apparently its such an easy job that she collapsed from exhaustion on stage. Twice.

That’s a pretty dumb article you managed to dig up there, **Bo**.

Here’s a Washington Post article where they interviewed the kids who did the hack.

> **[Paris Hilton Hack Started With Old-Fashioned Con](https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/19/AR2005051900711.html)**
>
> paris hilton cell phone, cell hilton paris phone stolen, cell hilton paris phone scandal, cell phone paris

While I’ve found internet links that do talk about the “favorite pet” password reset rumor, this article provides more substantive details. Basically, these teens exploited a flaw with the “sidekick” phone that enabled them to reset the password of anybody who’s phone number they knew. After they got bored messing with friends, they called up a local store, pretended to be the home office, and got insider access that gave them Hilton’s phone number.

> [@WaPo](#):
>
> …the hacker group freely exploited a security glitch in the Web site of wireless phone giant T-Mobile, according to the hacker, who described himself as the youngest member of the group. The group had found that a tool on the T-Mobile site that allowed users to reset their account passwords contained a key programming flaw.
>
> By exploiting the flaw, the group’s members were able to gain access to the account of any T-Mobile subscriber who used a “Sidekick,” a pricey phone-organizer-camera combination device that stores videos, photos and other data on T-Mobile’s central computer servers.
>
> The hackers could only exploit the Web site vulnerability if they actually knew a Sidekick user’s phone number…
>
> According to the young hacker’s account, the Hilton caper started the afternoon of Feb. 19, when a group member rang a T-Mobile sales store in a Southern California coastal town posing as a supervisor from T-Mobile inquiring about reports of slowness on the company’s internal networks.
>
> The conversation – which represents the recollection of the hacker interviewed by [washingtonpost.com](http://washingtonpost.com) – began with the 16-year-old caller saying, “This is [an invented name] from T-Mobile headquarters in Washington. We heard you’ve been having problems with your customer account tools?”
>
> The sales representative answered, “No, we haven’t had any problems really, just a couple slowdowns. That’s about it.”
>
> Prepared for this response, the hacker pressed on: “Yes, that’s what is described here in the report. We’re going to have to look into this for a quick second.”
>
> The sales rep acquiesced: “All right, what do you need?”
>
> When prompted, the employee then offered the Internet address of the Web site used to manage T-Mobile’s customer accounts – a password-protected site not normally accessible to the general public – as well as a user name and password that employees at the store used to log on to the system…

(Dear god, I never thought I’d spend so much effort defending this woman…I gained a lot of respect for her after I learned that she went to Europe and learned to DJ, like, for real)

Paris Hilton plays “Paris Hilton”. An utterly brilliant and captivating performance. How she kept a straight face throughout the whole thing is beyond me.
