I admit to having a love-hate relationship to the stuff my two year old reads and watches on TV. In partcular, he LOVES the Thomas the Tank Engine stuff. He knows the names of each and every engine, and compulsively reads the books and watches the DvDs (only gets TV for a bit after dinner). Now, if he “reads” it, that means I read it to him; if he sees it, I watch it with him. And I am getting mighty tired of Thomas and the messages of working hard, behaving and co-operating that come in each book and episode. Not a parody, exactly, but something that ineluctably (and inexplicably) comes to my mind every time my kid watches _Dragon Tales_ and the kids go through their satanic secret ritual to be transported to the astral plane: “I wish, I wish with all my heart that I could smell a dragon fart.” That is all, ladies and gentlemen. -FrL- where are their _parents_? ---

You get sick of them all. What always pops into my head is the “Ate My Balls” thing from the early days of the web. ([Ate my balls - Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ate_my_balls)) So I end up thinking: Barny Ate My Balls, Blue’s Clues Ate My Balls, Rug Rats Ate My Balls… ---

We had a very satisfying tale in the bathtub the other day about Greedy Diego who wouldn’t share his boat, so the dolphin and the alligator teamed up and ate him. Then they fought over who would get to ride in the boat. They decided to take turns, but it sunk them each in turn and they all drowned stupidly ever after. My daughter (3) thought it was a riot! 😃 ---

That was both horrifying and hysterical at the same time! A bit of a hijack, but a lot of kid’s shows have jokes specifically for the parents. I remember one episode of **The Fairly Oddparents** where Timmy wished for a copy that made real things. After having some fun with it he says, “Now for my Dad’s magazines!” The next scene shows him about to copy _Under the Bed Monthly_ . ---

[/QUOTE] I once went to an anime convention where one of the Dragon Tales guys had brought in this thing the animators had put together of all these moments of the dragons with their hands down their, I don’t know, pouches or whatever those things are. It was hilarious and from the horse’s mouth, as it were. ---

[/QUOTE] To add to the joke, the cover depicts the bottom of a bed, making the magazine literally about “Under the bed.” (I’m reminded of a _Ren & Stimpy_ where Stimpy goes through puberty and makes a cocoon out of the corn mags Ren keeps in the top drawer in his bedroom. Yes, they’re filled with pictures of corn, but it took me years to figure out what they were really supposed to be.) I wish whomever had uploaded this to YouTube had left on the brief introduction given by Randall-- “Spielberg’s latest opus. He combines his nose for commercial properties with his integrity as a chronicler of the holocaust: Flintstone’s List.” ---
