> Exactly. I cannot see Sarah Palin without thinking of Tina Fey.

I’ve actually had people attribute the “I can see Russia from my house” quote to Palin herself. You have no idea how painful it is to have to defend that woman…

Welcome to the fun!

> In 10th grade English, we read through the entire Ring cycle, so when I heard Anna I was primed and ready.
>
> She also did excellent lectures on the bag pipe and French horn, on other CDs, and I saw her cover Verdi’s Nabucco. I don’t know if that is on a CD or not. But the first CD is the best.

For those who may only know Anna from her albums, you really owe it to yourself to get her [Farewell Concert DVD](http://www.amazon.com/Anna-Russell-First-Farewell-Concert/dp/B00005R5G5/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1238514977&sr=8-2), if only for her explaining why she does the Ring analysis at _every_ concert now. The visuals are delightful.

> “So for those of you who know it as well as I do, please feel free to recite it along with me!”

It’s also got a wonderful bit about the pink chiffon gown she is wearing on the cover that I don’t think is anywhere else.

And I cannot hear “My Sweet Lord” without thinking of this:

Another Weird Al…“This Song Is Just Six Words Long”. Every time “I Got My Mind Set On You” is on the radio, I can only hear the lyrics to the Weird Al version.

I only just realized that the parody title is inaccurate, actually, whether it’s referring to the original or itself. The things you don’t notice for 20 years…

**"I Dig Rock 'n Roll Music"** by Peter, Paul and Mary was originally done as a send up of popular music of the time. So many people thought it was for real, it went to the top of the charts ranking up there with the Beatles, Donovan and the Mommas and Papas whom the folk groups were doing a parody of.

AMC has been showing the Godfather movies a lot during the past couple of weeks, which got the following earworm stuck in my head.

“What’s this?”
“It’s a Sicilian message: Luca Brazzi sleeps with the fishes.”
“Too bad. Such a handsome boy could have had any woman he wanted.”

First two lines originally from _The Godfather_.
Third line from _Mafia! The Movie_.

The pirates in the Asterix books are about 100 times better known than [Barbe Rouge](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redbeard_(comics)).
