Waitaminnit… Somebody remind me: What was the rationale for the rule that parody threads go in the Pit?

(I am reminded of [this classic parody thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=534691) (The Marmite Horror) that was posted in the Pit.)
