> Another part is that they’re not willing to weaponize things, IMO. Like, Biden could have, after the Supreme Court decision, killed all the conservative justices and then threatened congresspeople with the same fate to get his appointees through. He then could’ve passed an anti-packing law, enshrining a 9-0 Dem majority for god knows how many years. And it would all be ok by presumptive immunity. But he didn’t. And that’s why they made the decision. They know making decisions that _could_ threaten their livelihoods (and lives!) _won’t_ be used to under Democratic presidents, because they give the slightest shit about morality. So they feel free to make those decisions.

I agree; the Republicans fight dirty, the Democrats don’t. Which is a problem because if only one side fights dirty they have an advantage. The Democrats keep trying to play chess while the Republicans are playing “street thug with a baseball bat”.

One thing he mentions that really hit home with me was Hillary’s deplorables comment vs Trump’s “anyone who votes for Democrats is crazy” comment.

Hillary was speaking of half of Trump’s base. Trump was speaking of all Democrats. She gets attacked relentlessly over the deplorable comment and Trump gets no pushback at all about the “crazy” comment.

It can’t be this lopsided forever.

You’re right. The country will collapse before it gets better.

Yep. After they pulled a fast one to stop Obama from nominating a Supreme Court Justice, I said the new rule was, “Naked exercises of power are the new norm.” The GOP changed the rules, but the Democrats kept trying to play as if that hadn’t happened.

You may not like the new rule, and you might even be planning to change it back as soon as you have the ability to do that, but in the short term, playing the game by the current rules is just a pragmatic necessity.

If they ever get back into power, the Democrats need to start understanding this.

Agree completely w your sentiment here.

But I’d rearrange the cause and effect parts of your statement to something more like:

> The Democrats need to start understanding this if they ever expect to have any hope of getting back into power.

Correct- _“You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” Clinton said. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic—you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up.”_
So she was saying that racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and Islamophobic people are deplorable. Which is absolutely true.

maybe because MAGA comes across as more “talking to/for you” as opposed to “talking at you” (liberal 'we know what’s good for you/ what you should do")
