Safely in Kansas Coty, babbies are all duded up in fancy party clothes (their mom, my daughter, looks pretty snazzy too-except for time blue lipstick). They have scooted off to the 3:30 wedding. Grandma Boo is staying behind because 1. I wasn’t invited (don’t know the happy couple) and 2. I’m perfectly happy to hang out in the hotel room with my feet up until it’s time to help with bedtime. I’ll read my trashy novel and Dope til then. Mom may or may not go back to the reception as a solo grownup after the baby settles into sleep in the pack and play. I’ll keep my pearls handy for clutching in case **shoe** reports in. ---

Keeping my fingers crossed for ya, **shoe**! Monday’s random chemistry incident made me realize that I might actually be ready to start dating again…or, at least, start inciting some pearl-clutching. 😉 This week I’ve spent most of my spare time creating a flyer for my December gig, but I’m getting _reaaalllly_ close to setting up profiles on Match and OKCupid. eek! Bailey had her annual exam and vaccinations this morning. All in all she’s doing well for a 14-year-old dog, but the vet is a little concerned because she’s lost 5 pounds in the past year — which doesn’t sound like much until you realize that’s nearly 12% of her previous bodyweight, without any change in her appetite or activity level. And she was on the lean side to begin with. So, I’ll be a little low-key-worried until her bloodwork results come in. I woke up sometime around 5am to pee, and wound up lying in bed for more than an hour before falling asleep again. I’m beat. I was already still a little tired from the week’s driving/funeral, plus being out too late Thursday night — and I’m not willing to take a nap, because it’ll mess up my sleep schedule even more — so I’ve decided not to go out tonight after all. I’m actually glad to be staying home with my girl; and, now I can watch tonight’s Yankees game (first pitch in less than 90 minutes!). After the vet, I went to the grocery store. I always take my time in the frozen food aisles, looking for any new products that might be reasonably healthy ways to get protein, and today I did a double-take: [Tyson Chicken Fries](https://www.tyson.com/products/anytizers-homestyle-chicken-fries/) are back!! I hadn’t seen them for _years_; I assumed they’d been discontinued for good. I’m not sure how “reasonably healthy” they are, but they’re the only frozen chicken product I’ve ever actually liked and I’m ready for something different. I’m looking forward to having some for dinner soon. This afternoon’s weather was amazing! Sunny, and warm enough that I sat out on my patio and read while eating a late lunch. I’ve had the windows open since then. Days like this in mid-October are definitely worth taking advantage of! Tomorrow I’ll be driving to Baltimore (~50 miles north) for lunch with my dad and brother. There’s usually some kind of drama on I-495, so I’m not looking forward to that, but it’ll be good to spend a little time with them. I saw my bro at Monday’s funeral, but haven’t seen my dad since July. ---

Picked up the grocery order. There are new people irking there. It was kind of messy and I think I got four pounds of ground beef for free. I need to look at the receipt. Talked with Niece1 husband. He hasn’t even told her I’m taking the dog yet. She may object. Then I got a friend request on FB, from somebody who is supposed to be dead. One never knows though, because she is a… not so nice person. Nobody in her family has anything to do with her, she moved out west and is living on a reservation last anybody knew. She is well known for pulling scams. Like she told people out west that her daughter died, so she could collect money for her daughter’s funeral. Her daughter was quite alive and well at the time, and she had quit talking to her mother years before that, when her mother ran off with another man and left her with her step-father. She is the reason I had to save my ungrateful sister’s ass once. She was trying to drag my sister into some fraud, and I told my sister how to cover her ass, so when it was all exposed, she was in the clear. She was going into the bank where my sister irked, and wouldn’t let anybody wait on her except my sister. My sister knew the checks she was cashing were stolen, but the manager said the signatures matched and so she had to cash them. I told my sister, every time you cash one of those checks, you get your manager to initial them. Of course, when everything was exposed, my sister was accused of being in on it. Having on record that she reported the checks were stolen and her manager initialed the transaction, save her sorry ass. So, the whole friend request could be that somebody hacked her account, or it could be that her death was just a rumor and she is alive and well somewhere. Curiosity makes me want to accept the request. I think I will PM her daughter. ---

The valley of the Sun has been under flood warnings since this morning, the sky is really black in that direction. This storm is coming up from the south and moving north, maybe it will keep going to you guys up there. I’m working on the piece I started for my friend and realized I was going to need a couple more strands of DMC 501 to finish. Grumble, brumble. I was getting ready to order some when I remembered my left-over thread stash and wonder of wonders, I have half a skein. This never happens, if it wasn’t all rainy and shit I’d go out and buy a lottery ticket. (Perhaps I found the thread to keep me at home and out of a car accident because folks out here forget how to drive in the rain.) I was watching GG and VBC interact today and realized that GG acts just like a male lion with his pride. Being worshipped, groomed and deferred to is what he is here for and he just can’t conceive of holding a different place in the order of things. ---

Evening all. Any crash you heard was the Alabama tackleball fans stomping and kicking things down here. Home about 3:15pm after soccer, actually don’t feel that bad, of course when I try to stand up after this message, that view may change… Games went well, kids are actually improving their skills, and refereeing is replacing the gym on Saturdays (we’ll see about Sunday). Need to get some sustenance now for evening meal, usually I pop some Lean Cuisine Fettuccine in the microwave, but heading for Olive Garden tomorrow so don’t want to duplicate… **Sari** , sounds like family is being…family. You might find out more with Niece1 Husband comes over to fix the fence. And I’d be tempted to accept, but the risks (and I generally wouldn’t like that person) would probably keep me from doing that. Your call. **Oopsie** , being an born-and -bred N. ::sigh:: Like I always say, I spend way too much time cleaning up other peoples’ messes. It seems that I didn’t get charged for 5 packs of ground beef, and only charged 1.77 for a family pack of chicken tenders. If it were only a few bucks, I’d say forget about it. This is probably close to $50. I’ll deal with it tomorrow, or Moonday. ---

Like **metal mouse** , I’m only about an hour away and have shepherded friends and family through the tour when they come to Tennessee. I like the tour of the George Dickel distillery, just down the road, better though. Ran around with Sis today and spent some patio time early this evening. She’s in bed now (where I’m headed shortly) so’s she can get a really early start for her drive back to Houston. Read all, retained some. ---

I never got to the gym. Before heading out to run errands, I found my phone needed charging. Then just as I was unplugging it, my sister called feeling bad about something, and since we’re congenitally incapable of short conversations, I got a late start. I got in 7 miles, though, so not TOO bad. Of course, breathing in all that smoke probably negated some of the health effects. Pass the Chantix and gimme a patch or six, wouldja? Also, it took forever at the deli counter at the grocery store: Me: I’d like a half-pound of roast beef, please, in dinner slices. Deli person: Did you want super-premium, premium, or cheap? Me: Uh, premium? Deli: Really? I’ll bring you samples to try. (Returns 5 minutes later with samples, which all taste the same to me.) Me: OK, I’ll take THIS one. Deli: Really? Nobody ever takes that one. Maybe you’d prefer this THIRD kind! [Returns with a sample.] By this point, there’s a line behind me, and I’m rattled because clearly, I know nothing about roast beef, so I feel like a clueless kid asked to find the subject of a sentence: _Uh_, _in_? _The_? _Closet_? _Tomorrow_? _Period_? So I say, “This third kind is perfect! Yes, ma’am, it’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of! Any cow would be proud to be made into that!” Deli: Ma’am, that’s the cheap kind nobody likes. I feel sure there’s a Japanese game show in there somewhere. **Sari** , if the dog likes to whoosh in and suck up whatever food gets dropped on the floor, “Kirby” really would be a fitting name. 🙂 I knew a woman who swore by Kirby vacs. @nelliebly , what are dinner slices? I want my deli meat ultra thin, just a skoosh shy of shaved. I think I might go to FloriDUH in January for a week. The big name riders and trainer flock south to either Wellington or Ocala. I would go to Ocala. However, I might need a part time seasonal job to afford this. A Fanny Mae candy store is looking for PT help, 4 hours per shift. This has been my dream job since I was five years old. The proverbial kid in a candy shop. Plus they give employee discount. ---

Wow, I got outta work dang early for a Saturday, just past 11 p.m. Not too shabby! Gives me plenty of time to wind down, _eat_ ferchrissakes, hopefully get more sleep than last night, and then do pre-date stuff like shave & wash my (probably faintly pizza-scented) hair. Also, ferrealz gotta scrub that bathroom. He wacked them up into chicken bites and air fried them. He’s really getting into air frying and is now talking about getting a dedicated air fryer because the IP basket is too small. Anyone here want a perfectly good IP air fryer lid? I’m going to want to get rid of it as soon as I see the air fryer show up. We only have so much cabinet space afterall.
