Passport processing - is this a record?

I once renewed my U.S. passport on the spot. Went into the Embassy with an expired one and came out with a new one.

I knew a guy.

I probably wouldn’t rely on it always being so fast, but I also renewed mine this year and it also came back incredibly, shockingly quickly. Definitely within two weeks.

I got mine earlier this summer. I waited a few weeks and it was getting closer to my travel date and I didn’t want to take a chance so I called them and paid the $75 for the expedited processing. That then still took another 10 days to get me the passport in my hand.

But… but… Stickers!

This is pretty awesome. Is Pennsylvania the only state that does that?

The reason I know this stuff? I was driving my gf’s car a few weeks ago and we were pulled over for in the tiny town a few miles from home. It was 2 am and I assumed the cop was fishing for DUIs.

When he mentioned expired registration, I asked how he knew. He excitedly told me about the plate scanner the town now had. We talked about the tech a bit, my gf woke up and drunkenly explained she had forgotten to re-register. The paperwork was actually on the back seat. He gave us a warning and we were on our way.

ETA: they dropped the sticker, but redesigned the state’s license plate, eliminating the little indent made for the sticker and raising the plate’s price.

Cool, thanks for the info! I wish Maryland would do that.
