Damn! I was just born too soon - all we had on our campus was “Campus Crusade for Christ”. I remember Barry McGuire singing “Eve of Destruction” for Campus Crusade for Christ. In case you missed this charming group (they did door-to-door recruiting drives), they preached a weakened, pathetic version of Calvinism. ---

I don’t think organized religion should get the rap for this. Basically, the guy’s brain is messed up - he is operating on a mix of paranoid delusions and oppositional defiant disorder, or something like that. If a paranoid schizophrenic insisted that President Obama was sending him messages through the TV, we’d recognize that Obama and the TV were just catalysts for good ole’ fashioned craziness.
