Pat Robertson, I mean really what else is there to say? Doesn’t grandpa have minders to keep him from wandering in front of the TV cameras? Is he refusing his medication? [Here](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZnPYfpp4gI) he is claiming God will destroy America because of gay marriage. (I suppose God started with the Alabama tornadoes, but I digress.) Silly little draft-dodging, born-rich bigot. He has squandered his father’s (and I suppose his Father’s) name building an empire rooted in fear and fed with money from every scared grandma in the country. I wont disagree that Robertson is a prick, but a draft dodger? Wikipedia says he served in the Marine Corps, in Korea. Apparently he was given the choice of the Marines or the Army. Pete McCloskey has contested that Robertson served in combat, but there seems to be no denying that he did serve. ---

His dad (the senator) got him a cushy job. He ran the distribution of liquor to the officer and EM clubs in the region. He let someone else take his bullets for him, hence a draft-dodger (at least in my odd formulation of the term). ---

[Pat “Liquor officer” Robertson](http://www.schlatter.org/liquor_officer.htm) A pretty devastating piece on Robertson, and not just because it exposes that he used his dad to get him out of combat (and bragged about it at the time). It just makes him look like a douchebag in general, from the way he tried to sue fellow Marines for libel after they told the truth about him (all backed up with documentation, including personal letters from his father asking CO’s to keep his son out of combat), and his sexual harassment of a teenaged Korean girl who served the officers as a housekeeper. ---

So, I guess God doesn’t understand state-level poliitics. How come He’s sending tornadoes to Alabama and Missouri, and floods to North Dakota, if the New York legislature is voting on gay marriage? What’s the point? Also, when can we expect to see some lordly smiting of Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, and most of all, that modern-day Gomorrah Canada? I’ll spot Him Iceland 'cause of all the recent volcanic eruptions, but He’s really farming it out on the rest. ---

Robertson owns diamond mines in Liberia, and used planes owned by a charity he ran to haul supplies there while he told The 700 Club that the planes were being used for a relief effort. He supported the terrorist-harboring former Liberian president Charles Taylor too. What a fucking scumbag. He cares for nothing but being rich and powerful. ---

My understanding is that that’s based almost entirely on the claims of Pete McCloskey who’s not exactly the most reliable of sources. This is the same guy who’s referred claimed “Earlier here today I listened to speeches about the courage of men in France, Britain, Germany, and New Zealand who have spoken out against the commonly accepted concept of what occurred during the Second World War in\*\* the so-called Holocaus\*\*t” while giving a speech before the Institute for Historical Research, a group well-known for being Holocaust deniers. He’s a guy who seems to have an aversion for the truth. That said, Pat Robertson is a class A scumbag. ---

I figured out the problem with Pat Robertson when I was a fundie, when I noticed what he sold out on his network. If I’d have known about this stuff, I’d have been able to influence a lot more people. ---

I won’t claim to have Robertson’s personal open line with God so I have to judge his wishes by his actions. States with legalized gay marriage: Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, plus Washington, D.C. Tornadoes and hurricanes in these states: zero. States that get hit by tornadoes and hurricanes: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas. States on this list with legal gay marriage: zero. So, like I said, judging God’s wishes by his actions, I think God’s message is pretty clear. Legalize gay marriage or face God’s wrath. ---
