The article also says there’s some video evidence. Probably just outside, but if his surveillance equipment includes the inside, maybe it just won’t be a he said (“she said she liked biting!”) she said (“really? that’s what he’s going with?”) situation.
In the article quoted by Bruce above Croce later admitted he really doesn’t know if the woman he saw following Kane is the same one who reported the incident. He is the bar owner. He’s trying to cover his ass. And he probably has a personal relationship with Kane since he is a regular and holds events there.
Why does the ‘victim’ need a high price lawyer if she’s not gold digging? If we had the name and a picture of the woman, it would be easy for Croce to determine if she’s the same person that was heavily flirting with Kane.
Exactly. So why quote him at all? There is nothing in the article that serves to counter his point except for a throwaway line at the end after spending the previous six paragraphs smearing her and defending Kane.
In all the reporting on this case so far locally, not one person has been quoted or interviewed (that I’ve seen) saying “However, if the allegations are proven to be true - throw the book at him.” I’m sure it exists, but it is not being played up.
Again - he is presumed to be innocent. But until the actual trial (or even in advance of any charges. He is still just the subject of an investigation), the media should not be picking sides simply because he is a local hero.
…why yes, I am new to this planet…why do you ask?
This is silly. He’s got a high priced lawyer. Maybe she doesn’t want to be bullied. It is likely more of a sacrifice for her to afford one than it is for Kane.
I don’t know if they are intentionally trying to taint the jury pool but that article is ridiculous. All of the unidentified source quotes and leaks aren’t helping anyone involved in this. So far it appears to me the local police have tried to keep a tight lid on things so the investigation doesn’t get screwed up. Good luck with that, I guess.
You really have no hesitation making it clear you are a total piece of shit, do you?
I’m quite serious why I question why she’d need a high priced attorney. If this is just a potential criminal case then the district attorney would present the case against Kane.
If this were just a potential criminal case, you wouldn’t have posted about it. She will be under attack from everyone like you, and god help us all there are a ton of you out there.
What’s really odd is that as far as I can tell (and googling and taking the top results can never be wrong!), her lawyer, Thomas J. Eoannou, is solely a criminal defense attorney.
If she was bitten and/or otherwise injured and had to seek medical attention for those injuries, I imagine she’d like Mr. Kane to pay for those medical costs.
Listen chucklenuts, you’re out of your depth here. Let me explain to you a few facts.
First of all, Patrick Kane is a hero in Buffalo. Buffalonians are very proud, and defensive, of their own. If she was trying to do a shakedown on a famous athlete - she picked the wrong one and in the wrong town. I will reiterate, Kane is innocent until proven guilty, but she would have very little incentive to fabricate a crime here.
Second, there have been some very high-profile cases here recently where the consensus view is that money (read: high priced lawyers) won out over the law. Take the Corasanti case. Her hiring one is just a smart way to make sure she doesn’t get steamrolled by Kane’s team.
(Note: I have no love for the purported victim’s lawyer. Thomas Eoannou is also defending this piece of shit. The fact that people like Gabriele Ballowe exist hurts my soul.)
Third - and my objection in the whole part, and related to point #1 - is the biased reporting and victim blaming that is going on here locally. That someone’s, like yours dalej42, default position is “greedy whore” is so tragically misguided that I question your integrity on anything you do or are involved in.
